Dear Josh,
I am writing to you to check the legal status of your '2000 U.S. Census: 1 Billion RDF Triples' data - and to test our new 'Is it open?' service on CKAN.
I am writing to seek clarification of the 'openness' [1] of this data:
http://www.rdfabout.com/demo/census/
I wasn't able to find an explicit statement that the data was open such as a reference to an open knowledge or data license [2] so I'm writing to find out what the exact situation is. In particular we would like to know whether the material can be made available under an open license of some kind.
Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to receiving your response.
Regards,
Jonathan Gray

Thanks for your reply Josh! I wonder if I could ask you what your reason is for using a non-commercial license, as opposed to a license which is open (as in opendefinition.org)?
I also wonder if you have seen the legal tools to make data open at:
http://www.opendatacommons.org/
Warm regards,
Jonathan

Honestly, I just looked at the script that generates the data, saw what license I chose for it two years ago, and just went with that. Consistency & laziness.
